King Kamehameha Day

June 11 is King Kamehameha Day. It is a state holiday that celebrates King Kamehameha the Great, who united the Hawaiian Islands and established the Kingdom of Hawaii. You’ll find floral parades at various locations across the islands, followed by a Hoʻolauleʻa, which is a celebration block party with food and music. If you are in Honolulu, you can also check out the draping ceremony, where long strands of lei are draped over the Kamehameha statue in front of ʻIolani Palace.

Kona Marathon & Half Marathon

The famous Kona Marathon and Half Marathon is traditionally held in June on Big Island. The event was postponed due to the COVID pandemic, and is next scheduled for June 2023.

Hawaii Pacific Rim Pickleball Cup

The Pacific Rim Pickleball Cup held its inaugural tournament on June 16, 2022 at Patsy T. Mink Central Oahu Regional Park. Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world, and there is no better way to play pickleball than in paradise.

Hawaii Adaptive Surfing Championship

The Hawaii Adaptive Surfing Championship is open to surfers with disabilities. In 2022, over 100 adaptive athletes from 17 countries gathered in Waikiki to compete in 17 qualifying divisions. 2022 was also the first year the competition will tour internationally.

The Kapalua Wine & Food Festival is the longest running food and wine event in the US. The event is held at Maui’s Kapalua Resort and features world-class wine and food found nowhere else.
